Tympanum Music

Music made for the Tympanum universe. Written, Tracked and Produced from June to September 2019.

Voice Memos

Unhinged capturing of raw sounds. https://audius.co/motifnoticer

Pitchy droney silly sincere perfectly imperfect improvised written precarious jinglies from a rambling vocal diary.

These songs were written/recorded mostly in summer 2019 with a few from spring 2019. Some written in journals, others off the dome, all recorded with a tascam dr-05 and a corrupt memory chip, so there is some glitching and skipping. I like to think of them as audial popcorn.

Upcoming Music

Kaliane Van and Carl Moore have an exiting new album in the works! It is called Pleasing Pixels and Sinusoidal Sensations and they will be releasing it under the name b33p. It is a true collaboration in which both of artists are writing, performing and producing together. This project began in Spring 2021. Listen to the Mollusk Compatibility Demos which will evolve into the final album given further time and production.

Kaliane is also working on an experimental Khmer psych album with the support of Jack Straw Cultural Center’s Artist Support Program.

Unreleased solo works written, performed, and produced by Kaliane Van can be heard on Instagram.

Performance

In 2021, Kaliane played the 7-limit shruti box as a part of a live performance of Joey Largent‘s composition, Dreams of the Forty Whales of the Harmonic Reed System. Performers referenced a graphic score while playing their shruti box or harmonium, which was hand re-tuned into just intonation using the first seven primes (2-17).
